Design of Floors for Acceptable Dynamic Performance
Joists and floor beams not supporting walls have been designed to satisfy dynamic performance. Our sources for design are:

Depending on the member, we have used a number of criteria from these sources:
- A - Ensuring the member frequency is less than an acceptable amount as shown in the tables below (from 1)
- B - When steel floor beams are used with concrete slabs, the composite steel/bondek slab section properties are adopted (from 1)
- C - A maximum deflection of 2mm under a 1kN load (from 2)
- D - Maximum impact velocity check (from 2)
- E - When steel floor beams are used with concrete slabs and the frequency is between 4 and 8 Hz, check for acceptable dynamic performance (from 1)
